Ever wanted to level a shaman? This is your chance to ‘twink’ him from level 1 to 80 and with an experience bonus to boot! Heirlooms are a the dream come true to anyone suffering alt-itis. Granted, if you don’t have a character over level 70 getting these items may be difficult.
So what are Heirlooms exactly? Heirlooms where introduced with WotLK and are a new type of item that have a golden hue to them similar to the elusive and mysterious Artifacts. There aren’t many to choose from now but their novelty is that they are “Bind on Account” which means they link to your account, not your character, allowing you to transfer the item to any character you wish of the same faction. These innovative items level up with you, meaning that on a level 1 character the item level will be level 1. Once you level up the item levels up with you removing the need to find an upgrade and therefore making leveling a much easier process. The shoulder slot Heirlooms aside from giving great stats and the lucrative image of having shoulders at level 1 also provide a 10% increase to experience gained from killing monsters.
Some restrictions apply:
- Can’t be enchanted with anything that would make the item soulbound
- Only can be enchanted with level 1 enchants. So no Mongoose, sorry.
At the moment they can only be obtained from two sources:
- Emblems of Heroism, allow you to purchase the more PvE oriented Heirlooms
- Stone Keeper’s Shards, allow you to purchase the more PvP oriented Heirlooms
Obtaining both Emblems of Heroism and Stone Keeper’s Shards is easy. You obtain the emblems from bosses killed in WotLK heroics and the stones drop off bosses in both heroics and non heroics while your faction has control of Lake Wintergrasp.
Come on, you know you want to have a level 1 gnome warrior equipped with a Bloodied Arcanite Reaper! So where do you get them and what do they look like? I’ve compiled a list of all the Heirlooms available here.
