super-mouse

Definitely my next mouse!

On the World of Warcraft website, Blizzard announced the release of a new mouse especifically made for WoW. Soon as I saw images of this cursor moving piece of hardware I was immedietly in love, I’ve got to have one! Before I let my nerd rage take over though I took a second to analyze it as an actual mouse and if it’s worth the 89€.Aesthetically it’s amazing, sleek, ergonomic, and it’s labeled “World of Warcraft” what else could a nerd want?

The speccs are also good (taken off the manufacturer’s website, steelseries.com)

Software Specifications:

  • World of Warcraft® branded GUI
  • Assign World of Warcraft® commands
  • Develop custom macros (up to 160 characters)
  • Adjust DPI and standard mouse settings
  • Adjust illumination color, effects, and intensity
  • Independently adjust x and y-axis sensitivity
  • Real-time profile switching
  • Import and export profiles

Technical Specifications:

  • Max. resolution: 3200 DPI
  • Max. acceleration: 20 g
  • Max. speed: 65 inches/second
  • Max. USB report rate: 1000 hz / 1ms
  • USB data format: 16-bit
  • USB interface: Full speed
  • Sleep mode: Disabled (Always On)

Needless to say it’s a good all around gamer mouse and power user mouse.  Compared to my current mouse, the Logitech MX518, this mouse almost doubles it’s capacity. It also doubles the price!

What’s got me sold though is the sheer amount of buttons and programability which as all WoW users know will save us more keybindings (or free more up rather) to help you play better. Honestly things like the DPI don’t matter as much in MMOs as perhaps in First Person Shooters so this might have excess hardware for my needs but like all good geeks I gotta have the best.

I’ll have to wait in line though considering the product’s popularity is through the roof and it’s sold out everywhere I’ve looked.
