The chest pieces will each cost 40 Emblems of Heroism

The 2 handed mace Repurposed Lava Dredger currently has placer stats on WoWHead’s PTR site and should cost 65 Emblems of Heroism

The 1 handed mace Venerable Mass of McGowan doesn’t have a confirmed price yet as far as I can tell but it should be safe to assume it will be 40 Emblems just like the other 1 handed heirloom weapons

The new Heirlooms combined with other changes like Druids/Shamans getting Travel Form/Ghost Wolf at level 16 should really make low level twinking interesting. Not to mention the changes to PvP Experience.

It’s not quite level 80 yet but getting to level 60 was a huge achievement for me. Never have I gotten a priest to such a high level. Thank you heirlooms! At the time I write this I’m actually level 64, racing on as quickly as I can to 68 so I can go to Northrend. Funny, I rushed as much as I could to get to Outland and now that I’m there I don’t want to be anymore. The truth is I never really liked Outland that much, the scenery is too out there for my taste but the quests at least are well thought out and close together unlike the nightmare that is Azeroth.

Getting to 50 was a chore for me as it always is, it’s the biggest bump in the road I think because of the way quests are spread out. I don’t like just grinding mobs endlessly for levels either, otherwise it wouldn’t be an issue. The extra experience was noticeable though and my questing was pretty fluid post 40. I finished up STV then went to Tanaris to do the Pirate quests, tackled the few quests available in Hinterlands, and returned to Tanaris to finish up the upper 40s quests. I went to Zul’Farrak once with a normal group my level but I gained more experience faster when run through by my friends. Approaching 50 Luar was kind enough to run me through Maraudon and Sunken Temple which easily pushed me to 50.

Outland here I come!

It was easy going once I hit 50 due to the amount of quests available. I focused primarily on Burning Steppes, Searing Gorge, The Plaguelands, and Felwood. Normally I would go onto Winterspring but I reached 58 before the need arose. It was also helpful that I got twinked through all the level 60 instances: Blackrock Depths, Lower/Upper Blackrock Spire, Dire Maul (East, West, and North), Scholomance, and Stratholme. Stratholme was a bit odd to see in flames in destruction after having gotten used to the Caverns of Time version.

Leveling in Outland is a breeze, I just finished all the quests in Hellfire Peninsula and gotten to level 64. I predict I’ll only have to do Zangarmarsh and part of Terrokar Forest or Nagrand to reach 68. I’ve ran Hellfire Ramparts and Blood Furnace a couple times as well for more experience and gear to assist my leveling.

As for my talents I still have them all allocated in Shadow, I know, previously I mentioned going into discipline upon reaching level 60 but I honestly don’t see the point till I can get Inner Focus and Meditation anyway so I might respecc post 70 to get those in order to grind more efficiently. However, between Spirit Tap, Vampiric Touch > Mind Blast, and Dispersion I only have to drink maybe every 15-20 minutes and even then I normally just drink a mana potion to reduce downtime even more and just keep going.

My next post about Ziedra I’ll detail my system for grinding mobs/quests in Outland. Ever since I’ve gotten Shadow Word: Death it’s become a lot easier to kill mobs in a continuous successive order.

It’s been a week now since I started my twink project and I’m now level 44 at the time of writing this post. Not bad considering the amount of play time I get and that I also dedicate time to playing on my warrior and death knight as well. My experience post level 30 has been amazing, I can blaze through levels without any effort whatsoever and recently I’ve twinked my already twinked priest more with a shoulder enchant for my heirloom shoulders. That’s right folks, there’s a way to enchant your heirloom shoulders, there’s only one that works and it probably won’t be long before Blizzard “fixes” this issue.

The enchant in question is Greater Inscription of the Gladiator which gives a whopping 30 stamina and 15 resilience which is a massive amount for any character under level 60. Needless to say it’s like an extra improved Power Word: Fortitude on me while I kill pirates in Stranglethorn Vale and Tanaris.

You can purchase this enchant in Stormwind from the honor vendors for 10000 honor, a measely amount if you have a level 80 character who visits Wintergrasp every so often. Considering i’m on a PvP server this has also helped me complete the Arath Basin quest to capture the farm, lumber mill, mine, and blacksmith as well as ward off any would be gankers.

Getting to level 30 is always the first big nasty hump for me but afterwards between Stranglethorn Vale, Arathi Highlands, Hillsbrad Foothils, and Alterac it was easy to get to level 40. Normally I dread 40 to 50 because quests seem to be few and far between I always find myself having to travel alot between zones just to fill in grinding sessions. It seems with the bonus to experience i’m getting now this won’t be an issue, as i’m averaging somewhere from 4 to 8 quests per level. I’m also having no problem leveling tailoring as I hoarde plenty of materials from twink runs that Luar and Somnium assist me with. One profession that is slacking behind the others is Cooking, since I’m leveling and leaving level brackets so quickly I haven’t gotten enough cooking materials to keep up so I’ve been stockpiling what I have gotten and put it in the bank for now to level later (if I ever even bother since my warrior already has high level cooking and there isn’t any soulbound buffs).

As for talents I’m still specced into shadow and will continue to do so till level 60 at which I’ll probably go down discipline to get Meditation. I’ll write about my views on leveling talents for priests in another post soon.

UPDATE (Patch 3.1.0): Your character now has to be at least level 70 for Greater Inscription of the Gladiator to work. Glad I got to 80 already P

I’ve created a gallery of pictures showing the progression thus far on my priest.

I finally let my alt-itis get the better of me and succumbed to buying a bunch of heirlooms in an attempt to level up a priest. I say “attempt” because this will be my oh… 4th or 5th time I try to level up a priest. Every time I’ve gotten somewhere between level 20 and 30 before I just couldn’t take it anymore and gave up but this time I have some help! So I bought the following for now at level 1:

The Blessed Hammer of Grace

Exquisite Sunderseer Mantle

Discerning Eye of the Beast

Swift Hand of Justice

Pretty amusing to have spell damage and haste at level 1. Regardless, my level 1 twinked priest still ran OOM after smiting a few boars, luckily my Blessed Hammer of Grace packs quite a melee punch. Melee priest huzzah!

It didn’t take me long at all to get to level 10 where I decided to leave Teldrassil to go to Bloodmyst Isle since the quest rewards are better than any of the other alliance starting zones. It still bugs me how the Blood Elves get two blue quality items from their quests and the Draenei get none but oh well I don’t care I got heirlooms. In just a day I got to level 20 and am currently sitting at level 21 with 38 spell power, 4 spell hit, and 7.52% spell crit. Not bad! Getting to level 20 as with all priests was a big hump and was always what discouraged me but post 20 mobs drop quite quickly and I’m able to kill more than one at once with little to no down time thanks to Spirit Tap.

Damn Stranglethorn gorillas!

This is my latest little side project in my WoW life. Let’s see how long it takes me to get her to get to level 80. Mind you I’m not trying to power level and will only be leveling my priest between heroics, raids, and PvP on my 2 main characters Yiedra and Xiedra (yeah I’m that lame naming my characters haha). The professions I chose where skinning (to get the crit bonus and make some money as well) and tailoring to make my own gear. I would have gotten enchanting but it’s a pain to level and my friend Somnium is already an enchanter so I feel it’s a waste of time. For now I’ve been going down the shadow tree as it still seems to reign supreme as the best solo leveling talent specc.

I’ll keep an update on how my little heirloom girl is doing from time to time on her journey to level 80.

This is your chance to ‘twink’ him from level 1 to 80 and with an experience bonus to boot! Heirlooms are a the dream come true to anyone suffering alt-itis. Granted, if you don’t have a character over level 70 getting these items may be difficult.

So what are Heirlooms exactly? Heirlooms where introduced with WotLK and are a new type of item that have a golden hue to them similar to the elusive and mysterious Artifacts. There aren’t many to choose from now but their novelty is that they are “Bind on Account” which means they link to your account, not your character, allowing you to transfer the item to any character you wish of the same faction. These innovative items level up with you, meaning that on a level 1 character the item level will be level 1. Once you level up the item levels up with you removing the need to find an upgrade and therefore making leveling a much easier process. The shoulder slot Heirlooms aside from giving great stats and the lucrative image of having shoulders at level 1 also provide a 10% increase to experience gained from killing monsters.

Some restrictions apply:

Can’t be enchanted with anything that would make the item soulbound

Only can be enchanted with level 1 enchants. So no Mongoose, sorry.

At the moment they can only be obtained from two sources:

Emblems of Heroism, allow you to purchase the more PvE oriented Heirlooms

Stone Keeper’s Shards, allow you to purchase the more PvP oriented Heirlooms

Obtaining both Emblems of Heroism and Stone Keeper’s Shards is easy. You obtain the emblems from bosses killed in WotLK heroics and the stones drop off bosses in both heroics and non heroics while your faction has control of Lake Wintergrasp.

Come on, you know you want to have a level 1 gnome warrior equipped with a Bloodied Arcanite Reaper! So where do you get them and what do they look like? I’ve compiled a list of all the Heirlooms available here.
